The 2007-2008 season of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra opens with the brilliant brass Fanfare from ‘La Peri.’ Virtuoso flutist, Martha Councell, will favor the audience with a flute concerto by Karl Stamitz and the orchestra will then perform Enesco’s exciting Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1. Mendelssohn is the featured composer for the first masterwork of the season, his Symphony No. 5 (Reformation), based on Martin Luther’s great hymn tune, Ein Feste Burg. |
