March 26, 2008
News: Prior to spring break The Blades participated in the ACHA Division III
National Tournament. In their first game
the Blades lost in a shoot-out to Central Florida, the number-one seed from the
south division. The Blades then faced
Saginaw Valley State losing in a half-hearted effort. In their final two games the Blades notched
victories against Fairfield University and Florida Gulf Coast to finish the
tournament.
The Blades
appreciated the strong show of fan support and are looking forward to next
season.
February 19, 2008
News: The Dordt Blades hockey team claimed two wins
at the ACHA Division III regional hockey tournament on Friday,
February 15 and Saturday, February 16. The Blades got a 6-0 win over
the Aggies from UC-Davis to advance to a national tournament qualifying
match-up on Saturday night at 9:45 (Pacific Time) against the University
of Wyoming at the Oakland Ice Center in Oakland, California which the Blades
won 4-0. The Blades will advance to the national tournament in
Rochester, Minnesota held March 12-15.
The Blades entered the tournament with a 20-8
record and were ranked #4 in the ACHA Division III Regional rankings. For additional information on the Regional

February 11, 2008
News: This week The
Blades will fly to San Francisco, CA to compete in the Pacific Regional
Tournament. This tournament features the
teams ranked 3rd through 10th who will compete for a
birth in the ACHA Division III National Tournament. The Blades, ranked 4th will start
the tournament facing off against the California Davis Aggies (ranked 9th),
on Friday the 15th at 9:30 AM.
If The Blades win this game they will play at either 7:00 PM or 9:45 PM
on Saturday for a birth in the National Tournament.
Other teams
participating include: Northern Arizona (3), Cal. State Northridge (5), Air
Force Academy (6), Wyoming (7), California-San Diego (8), and Sacramento State
(10). Additional information regarding
the Regional Tournament can be found on the ACHA
Website.
While
attending the tournament updates will not be posted to The Blades homepage,
however; Dordt Athletics will
provide scheduling details for Saturday’s game.
The Blades
would like to thank Dordt College who provided the funding to allow the team to
participate in this tournament and the fans that supported them this year.
February 9, 2008
News: On Friday
The Blades travelled to Minnesota to play Minnesota State University:
Mankato. Teams were equally matched
however the team was slow out of the gate and suffered an overtime loss, their
first of 2008.
February 4, 2008
News: The Blades had
another successful weekend beating Creighton 10-2 on Friday
and 3-1 on Saturday. The Blades overall record is now an
impressive 20-7-0. This weekend the team
will travel to Mankato
to complete its final scheduled game before regionals.
January 28, 2008
News: The Blades
stretched their winning streak to 8 games with wins on Friday
and Saturday
against SDSU. On Friday the team came
out somewhat slow but managed to pull out a 2-1 win. Saturday was also a less-than-par performance
by The Blades but a 4-1 win was attained.
These wins help to maintain The Blades fourth place ranking in the
Pacific Division. Look for the final ACHA
Regional Rankings after February 3.
If the team is able to realize a ranking above 11th place
they will be headed to San Francisco for Pacific Regionals on February 14, much
to the dismay of various fiancées and girlfriends.

News: Due to the
strong performance of The Blades in recent weeks the team was ranked fourth in
the latest ACHA
Regional Rankings period. This
position is a boost to the team as if it is maintained, The Blades will qualify
for Pacific Regionals. Regionals are
scheduled to be held on the weekend of February 16 in California.
January 21, 2008
News: Last weekend The Blades won the Doc Davies Cup beating Iowa
State 2-1 in the finals. This was a big win for the team and gives the team
a lot of confidence with regionals coming up in the next month. The win against Iowa State capped a
successful weekend in which The Blades beat Creighton,
13-3, and USD,
9-2. Next weekend the team will
travel to Brookings to play the SDSU Jacks.
January 16, 2008
News: This weekend
the Blades will host the first annual Doc
Davies Cup Tournament. This
tournament features Dordt,
USD,
ISU, SDSU,
Creighton,
and University
of Nebraska Lincoln. The Blades will have games on Thursday at
6:00, Friday at 8:00, and Saturday at a time to be determined based on the
team’s performance.
December 12, 2007
News: Last weekend
The Blades faced the Iowa State Cyclones.
Each game was dominated by Dordt with solid play in both the offensive
and defensive ends. On Friday The Blades
won 7-0 with Jared Rempel netting a hat-trick.
On Saturday the Blades won 9-1 with a 5-point game going to Todd
Bakker. These were the last games before
the Christmas break. Upon returning The
Blades will host the Doc Davies Cup Tournament featuring USD, ISU, SDSU,
Creighton, Carleton, UNI, and UNL.
November 23, 2007
News: Blades took a step back this last weekend
going 1-2 in the Clash on the Corn. On
Thursday the team lost 6-5 to California Northridge. This loss was followed by a 7-1 defeat by the
University of Northern Colorado. On
Saturday The Blades were able to pull out a 6-4 win over St. Olaf.
The Blades next games are at home on December 7 and 8 versus Iowa State.
November 12, 2007
News: The Blades
split their games on games on Saturday winning against the University
of Wyoming with a score of 4-2 while falling 6-4 against University
of Nebraska’s Lincoln Campus. While
the loss to UNL is disappointing The Blades will get a chance at retribution
following the Christmas break.
Furthermore, this loss should not overshadow the victory over
Wyoming. Wyoming competes in the same
region as The Blades and is ranked 7th whereas The Blades are ranked
4th. This victory helps to
solidify their high ranking in the division and fuels their run for nationals.
Next weekend
The Blades will host the Clash in the Corn Tournament.
This tournament features teams from California, Colorado, and Minnesota
which are key rivals that The Blades must beat in their quest to be selected
for the ACHA National Tournament. The
Blades play Thursday at 8:00 and Friday and Saturday at 7:00.
November 5, 2007
News: The Blades beat up on SDSU last weekend with victories of 8-3
on Friday and 9-4
on Saturday. These wins add to an 8-6
win against the University of South Dakota last Tuesday. Todd Bakker led the way once again and now leads
Division III in points this season.
This weekend the
Blades travel to University of Nebraska playing both University
of Nebraska Lincoln and University
of Wyoming on Saturday.
October 29, 2007
News: Last weekend the Blades lost both of their home games to the Division II St
Thomas Tommies. Both games were fast
paced and competitive however, on Friday The Blades suffered penalty trouble which
contributed to a 5-2 loss. On Saturday The Blades skated with the skilled St. Thomas
team but fell short losing 5-3.
This Tuesday, October 30th, the Blades travel to Yankton to play the
USD Coyotes. Looking ahead to the
weekend, The Blades will face SDSU on Friday and Saturday at home.
October 22, 2007
News: The Blades are
now on a four game win-streak after sweeping Creighton University over Parents’
Weekend. On Friday The Blades, energized by their first official home
game, came out fast quickly building up a significant lead and finishing with
an 8-1 victory. Saturday’s game was similar with the team recording a 7-0
victory. Congratulations are due to
rookie Ted Gibbons on his first shutout of the season.
Next weekend
The Blades will again be at home facing the University of St. Thomas. These games promise to be competitive and
entertaining. Be sure to attend and show the team your support.

will also be sold at both Friday and Saturday’s games against Creighton

News: The Blades
travelled to Ames, Iowa last weekend and were able to sweep the Iowa State University Cyclones. On Friday The Blades had a rough start falling behind two
goals at the end of the first. However,
the team picked it up in the second and third periods finishing with a 7-3
victory. On Saturday The Blades faired better leading the entire game
with the end result a 6-3 win.
This weekend
The Blades intend to host Creighton University at Dordt College’s Parents
Weekend.

October 8, 2007
News: Last weekend The Blades faced Middle Tennessee State University, Saginaw
Valley State University, and the University of South Florida as part of the
ACHA Showcase Tournament. On Friday The
Blades played both MTSU and SVSU. Each
game was hard-fought. The Blades beat MTSU but were unable to keep SVSU
off the scoreboard and ended the day 1-1.
On Saturday The Blades faced USF but suffered another close loss.
Next weekend
the team will travel to Ames to face Iowa State. The Blades are looking to settle scores with the
team that beat them last year in the GPCHA finals.

News: The Dordt
Blades will play their first home game at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 5, as part
of the Showcase Tournament. The Blades
will play the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders who finished tenth
last year in the ACHA DIII South Region.
The Blades will play a second game on October 5 at 5:00 versus the
Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals.
Updates: The Roster section of the website has been
updated to reflect the 2007-2008 season.
In addition, the Schedule
section has been updated to reflect tentative games that have been confirmed
and additional tournament games.

News: Information
concerning the ACHA Division III National
Showcase Tournament has been posted.
The tournament will be held on October 4th, 5th, and 6th and features
Middle Tennessee State University, Saginaw Valley State University, South
Dakota State University, University of South Florida, and Oakland University
competing with the Dordt Blades.
